Both Calendula and Dandelion have UVB filtering effects, UVB radiation being the primary contributor to most skin cancers. With their high levels of polyphenols and antioxidants these extracts also absorb the free radicals caused by UV light which ultimately cause the DNA degeneration that is at the basis of skin cancer. Dandelion has been found to counteract photoaging by moreover absorbing excess MME enzymes that are released with UV exposure. These MME enzymes cause aging by destroying the collagenous matrix of our skin.

All of our sunscreens are made with a baseline of non-nano Zinc Oxide, which is the preferred natural sunscreen ingredient for its non-toxicity – not only to humans but also to our oceans and ocean life. Non-nano Zinc Oxide protects our skin by creating a reflective shield that reflects the damaging UV-rays; it is not absorbed into our skins. Non-nano Zinc Oxide offers broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection.
